Recipes, Nutrition, Prices

About

Hi, I’m McKenna Waite, and I put this blog together to help make planning life a little bit easier. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Public Health and worked as a Wellness Coach/Program Director for my university’s Wellness Center. During my time working as a wellness coach, I found that the three largest barriers/misconceptions my clients had towards living healthfully were:

  1. They thought eating healthy was too expensive.
  2. They thought they didn’t have time to prepare healthful meals and snacks.
  3. Food journaling/tracking seemed too tedious.

My goal with this blog is to help remediate those concerns by:

  1. Providing pricing information so you can find recipes that will fit your budget
  2. Giving the option to make all of my recipes ahead of time to fit into your schedule
  3. Providing nutrition information that is easy to measure and log into your food journal (if you’re keeping one).

In all of my recipes I’ve included their nutrition information, price per serving/meal, and meal prep instructions. This way you can budget your money, time, and diet (i.e. budgeting grams of carbs, milligrams of sodium, etc). You will find plenty of rich desserts and soulful dishes right along side my more light and healthful meals. I believe there is plenty of room in life for both.

I do my best in regards to estimating prep time, pricing, and nutrition information, but your outcomes may differ slightly. I get my nutrition information from MyFitnessPal. I’m not at all affiliated with them, but I am a fan of their user interface and tend to trust their nutrition information sourcing more than other food tracking apps I’ve experimented with. As for pricing information, the cost of each dish is going to change depending on the season and where you live and shop. I’m obviously budget conscious, so I shop in season, non organic (sorry, not sorry), and my bills are most likely coming from Winco and Costco and not Whole Foods.

I’m excited to turn this blog into a community of money/time/health conscious people, so please don’t hesitate to comment with your feedback, questions, and suggestions for future posts!
